Neo-Cubist or deconstructivist portrait of an attractive woman with long and expansive hair. In cubist tradition, as permits us to see her portrait from a few angles simultaneously. The portrait was created based on a collage taken from the pages of a fashion magazine, and the fashion model was the prototype for the sitter in the portrait. This portrait deals with the unconventional beauty of a predatory and dangerous woman and for some unprepared viewers may appear ugly or horrible. Nicholaas Chiao recognizes that the role of the painter in painting ideal beauty is sometimes different from the role of fashion photographer, also seeking this kind of beauty. Glamour photos in fashion magazines are not attractive for painting all the time, because it is not always worth the effort to turn to painting something overly popular and openly beautiful in a paint-by-numbers straightforward manner. It could be done by many artists quite quickly. Instead, the Nicholaas Chiao seeks to make the composition here more complex, unique, novel, unconventional, ugly-beautiful, and quite perverse.
