Artwork Description:
This is a more expressionist and earlier version of the Black Pope painting. It is characterized by the intense use of red as the dominant color. It was inspired by Portrait of Innocent X by Velazques and many of his interpretations by Francis Bacon. This work became quite popular on Tumblr and other social networks and inspired the artist to continue this portrait as the series of Black Pope paintings.
