Artwork Description:
This work is a two-dimensional exercise in neo cubism. The artist intentionally limited dimensionality and colors in this series to achieve more filtered and striking results. Colors here - yellow, blue, red, and black present a very memorable color scheme that first surfaced in art history in the Broadway Boogie-Woogie by Piet Mondrian. There are some other similarities, for example, the use of rhythmically pulsating squares and the whole idea of making a map-like representation of some living and functioning city-like structure.
