She sits in the yellow chair dressed in the fashionable multi-colored dress. The position of the woman in the chair was borrowed by the artist from Ilya Repin's portrait of Tenisheva, which was once an academic assignment for him to produce a copy. This portrait recalls the tradition of Pablo Picasso's and Gustav Klimt's portrait paintings by abundance and wealth of painterly details.
